Privacy Policy
Last updated 11 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Hive Manager collects, why, and what your rights are. Hive Manager is a small, personal project β this policy is written in plain language rather than dense legal text, but if anything is unclear, email contact@beekeeping.alumnai.co.uk and we'll clarify.
1. Who's responsible for your data
The contact for Hive Manager and the data described here is contact@beekeeping.alumnai.co.uk.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: your email address and password. Passwords are handled entirely by Supabase's authentication system β we never see or store your password in plain text.
- Beekeeping data you enter: apiary names, locations, and postcodes; hive details; inspection logs; tasks; and harvest records. This is the core content of the app, and it's private to your account.
- Technical data: standard web server logs kept by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and reliability, such as IP address and request timestamps.
3. Why we collect it
We collect this data to provide the Service to you: to authenticate you, store your beekeeping records, and show them back to you. We don't collect any more than that β there's no analytics or advertising tracking in the app.
4. Weather forecasts
If you add a postcode or location to an apiary, we send that value to postcodes.io (for UK postcode lookups) and/or Open-Meteo (for the forecast itself) to fetch weather data for that apiary's page. These are free, keyless third-party services; we don't control their own data retention, but we only send them the postcode/location text, not any other account or beekeeping data, and we only cache their responses ourselves for up to 24 hours to avoid repeated lookups.
5. Who we share data with
We don't sell your data or share it for advertising. Your data is stored and processed by:
- Supabase β our database and authentication provider.
- Vercel β our hosting provider.
- postcodes.io / Open-Meteo β only the postcode/location text, only if you've added one, as described above.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own standard terms; we don't share your data with anyone else.
6. Cookies
Hive Manager uses one cookie: the Supabase authentication session cookie, which keeps you logged in. It's strictly necessary for the Service to work and isn't used for tracking or advertising, so no cookie consent banner is shown.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account (email contact@beekeeping.alumnai.co.uk), we'll delete your data within 30 days, except where we're required to keep something for legal reasons.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. To exercise any of these, email contact@beekeeping.alumnai.co.uk. If you're in the UK or EU and unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO β ico.org.uk).
9. Children
Hive Manager isn't directed at children, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the βLast updatedβ date above.
11. Contact
Email contact@beekeeping.alumnai.co.uk with any questions or requests about your data.
This is a plain-language template, not legal advice β review it before relying on it.
